This year Bedfringe will run over a record breaking 2 weeks. Events will take place at The Quarry Theatre and The Place Theatre. We’re so chuffed to be performing at our local arts festival! Come and see us play this weekend for free in the garden at The Quarry theatre. Fingers are crossed for some lush weather.
Check it out! We’re playing at Bermondsey Folk Festival! There’s a first rate line up of top UK folk talent and we’re honoured to be there too. How the heck did that happen?! Hope to see you there, come and say hi!
Happy Christmas and have a wonderful New Year! We’ve just sent out our last newsletter of the year so make sure you subscribe to that if you want to stay up to date with all the latest tickets and podcast episodes for Mill Race Folk
Marisa, Jack and Davy couldn’t do these shows without such a supportive audience. We really appreciate it and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year.
We’ve got some great folk acts booked for 2019 at Moot Hall in Elstow, Bedfordshire and at a new venue in the heart of Bedford town! (details to be revealed in Spring). We have more podcast episodes planned, more trips aboard the John Bunyan Community Boat and Marisa Jack and Davy will be releasing a new record too. We will announce details of that later in the year.
Cohen took to squeezeboxes in his teens and has since developed into a fine player of both the melodeon and anglo concertina. His charming solo repertoire consists mainly of traditional songs, tunes and the occasional un-accompanied song. Expect ballads, industrial songs, sea songs and shanties all firmly rooted in the English tradition, with a fair amount of material linked to the West Midlands where Cohen has lived for much of his life.
Support comes from Marisa Straccia. She is one of the organisers of Mill Race Folk and one third of folk trio, Marisa Jack and Davy. She’ll be singing traditional British songs on banjo and guitar.
We’re playing Bedford Oxjam later this month. Various music venues, pubs and bars in Bedford will be hosting local musicians throughout the day for a brilliant cause. We’ll be playing at The Ent Shed on Castle Road, Bedford at 3pm
We’re playing at The Offline Festival this Saturday at Hounslow Hall Estate, Buckinghamshire. Catch us singing unamplified around a campfire near the ‘Power Forum’ venue at around 22:00.
This unique festival is about community with talks and seminars curated for community businesses, social enterprises, community projects & socially responsible corporate partners. There will be opportunities for friends and family to experience hands-on learning, business skill-building, insightful discussions, epic stories, and personal growth sessions. Wow. What a programme! I mean, this festival promises a lot! We’re intrigued. Can’t wait to explore and learn something new.
We were invited by The Nest Collective to play. They’ve curated all the live music for the festival this year.
