We’ve some lively folk music from Brown Boots! They are a traditional folk duo made up of Will Allen on melodeon and Martin Clarke on fiddle.

They’ll take you on a journey across beautiful musical landscapes, which is perfect as the boat will be travelling along the pretty river through Bedford. The duo play tunes from across Britain and Ireland – and even further afield. It’s like going for a walk on a clear, spring morning, with the fresh air full of life! Cinder Well aka Amelia Baker

Saturday 8th June 2019

Cinder Well

Foster Hill Road Cemetery,
Foster Hill Road, Bedford, MK41 7TD

Doors at 7:30pm

Tickets £10 at eventbrite

Hurry up and get your tickets for this one! Cinder Well is the haunting folk project of singer and multi-instrumentalist, Amelia Baker from the USA.

The first night at our new venue: the Cemetery Chapel at Foster Hill Road. This is a fascinating and beautiful building and we are very lucky to be able to use it to hold our intimate folk nights.

Amelia’s songs are nostalgic and moving, centered around memory, loss, place, and longing. While heavily influenced by traditional American and Irish music and song, Cinder Well is deeply personal and original. Amelia Baker’s mourning vocals are framed with resonator guitar, shruti box, and strings, and her lyrics and cathartic melodies wrap listeners in a surrealist world just adjacent to our own.

Born out of a collective love of 1970’s folk-rock, traditional ballads, and dance music of America, Ireland, and Scandinavia, Cinder Well’s sound is at once provoking and nostalgic.

Emily and Hazel Askew have become known as two of the foremost performers and interpreters of English folk music and they’re coming back to Bedford!

Their live performances brim with the depth and connection not only of two sisters, but also of two musicians who have been immersed in folk music all their lives.

Together, they rework and reinterpret songs and balladry, creating breath-taking arrangements, which allow words that are hundreds of years old to resonate profoundly with contemporary audiences.

Alongside this, both women are also skilled multi-instrumentalists and expert players of dance music, using fiddles, melodeons, concertina and cello in their innate drive to bring old dance music to life.
